El Molino an iconic café originally opened in 1898 was a cornerstone of Barcelona’s vibrant culture. Though this historic theatre has been closed for the past 15 years, it was recently redesigned by Fernando Salas. Salas quite clearly embraced a retro design with kitsch highlights throughout. The seats are bright red, embossed with Swarovski crystals no less, encompassing a minimalist red and black stage. El Molino was re-opened with new state-of-the-art technical equipment.
This is definitely a funky theatre that is beautifully designed, fitting in with Barcelona’s culture reputation perfectly.
