WORKTECH 15 London :: The Future of Work and the Workplace
As the leading international workplace conference, WORKTECH is a series of events held at major locations around the world including New York, Melbourne, Amsterdam, Sao Paolo, Shanghai, Singapore, Santiago and Buenos Aires to name a few.
This year’s WORKTECH15 edition in London gathered some of the biggest and brightest names to debate, discuss and share ideas and knowledge of the Future of Work and the Workplace. Joining 300 senior professionals from the real estate, facilities, HR, technology, architecture and design sectors, we were thrilled to see familiar faces and meet many new specialists from our industry.
On the first morning of the two-day event we were impatiently waiting for the Co-Work: Panel Debate, chaired by Pier Paolo Mucelli, Founder eOffice. The panel involved reputable names from the coworking, shared office sector, such as Eric van der Kleij, Level 39, Devin Vermeulen, WeWork, Juliette Morgan Tech City UK and Martijn Roordink, Spaces.
The discussion revolved around the future of coworking and its projected expansion within the real-estate sector. The rising number of self-employed professionals in the UK, currently at 4.6m, higher than records began, is an important factor driving the popularity of this trend and the need for shared workspace.
Another important fact, not to be undermined by real-estate professionals is that Generation Y demands flexibility not only in location, but also in culture and collaboration. This prompts corporates to chase innovation both internally and externally, by venturing in industry specific accelerators, incubators and startup initiatives.
With this in mind, the office space is no longer simply a workspace to tick off the daily tasks. It is rather a place to nurture your ideas by providing access to inspiring workspace, like-minded community and opportunities for collaboration and communication. It is a space that merges the concepts of space, work and creativity, which prompts innovation and work satisfaction.
The two-day event covered other major topics from the workplace sector, including topics on smart infrastructure to drive space optimization, wellbeing of the workspace and the digital workspaces of the future.
