The millennial workplace aims to engage employees, increase productivity, and alleviate stress by appealing to the senses and empowering people to choose where and how within the office they want to work. We’ve come across Airbnb’s office in São Paulo, a living proof of how workplaces can enhance productivity when they are designed with occupants in mind. This office is a reflection of the culture of the company and the country it is in.
The global vacation rentals marketplace partnered with MM18, a renowned Brazilian architecture firm and other local designers to create a mature, robust, and beautiful workspace, adding natural elements and common materials to give the office a modern, yet comfortable vibe. To make everyone feel at home, designers engaged with the coworking spirit implementing open spaces for employees to work in comfort and informal breakout areas to interact throughout the day.
The office is designed around a shared kitchen to boost interaction and gather coworkers during meals and other times throughout the day. This is the central point of the office as the Airbnb São Paulo team is a particularly close-knit group who places a lot of importance on certain team oriented routines such as having breakfast together in the morning and coffee breaks in the afternoon.
