YNNO is a consulting agency which advises on innovative ways of working, and the types of environments required to promote such behaviour. According to them they help ‘realize your organizational ambitions and achieve new levels of performance.’ It was therefore important that their premises embodied these principles, allowing the YNNO offices to be their best point of reference!
In order to achieve these goals YNNO employed Dutch designers Sprikk, who set out to create an office which was more of a home base rather than what most people would assume a conventional workplace should be. This was because YNNO consultants spent far more time working with their clients than in the office.
A common theme throughout the office is the use of wooden structures, Birchwood to be exact. The application of one material throughout the building created a coherent appearance, yet one that still offered a diversity of working spaces that were far from ‘boring’. Particular stress was placed on communication and networking. Most modern businesses have realised that encouraging networking and communication is key to an effective office, but this was especially important to YNNO due to the nature of their job. With this aim in mind the entire floor-plan was kept open, leaving only two glass volumes which were acoustically separated. This allowed the whole office to interact freely, but also created a quite meeting room which could be used on occasion.
