Wieden+Kennedy is an independently owned American advertising agency best known for its work for Nike. Founded by Dan Wieden and David Kennedy, and headquartered in Portland, Oregon, it is one of the largest independently owned advertising agencies in the world. American firm work architecture company (WORKac) design the agency’s 50,000 sqft New York City office.
The design embraces urban density as the underlying principle. Aiming for a minimal compression of individual work spaces that opens up room for a gradient of diverse collective spaces. The office is a marked move from the “office as a playground” theme which is the overarching contemporary theme in office design, especially amongst the numerous tech giants created since the 1980s. The new space puts work back at the heart of creative work.
Because work at Wieden+Kennedy is highly collaborative, WORKac designed the widest possible range of discussion spaces to accommodate meetings and gatherings of varying size, privacy levels, and duration.
