The McKinsey & Company Hong Kong office was designed by OMA. The design was focused around one main question – how to rethink the office work space in a way that is innovative and enhances the McKinsey experience? The outcome was a space which strikes a balance between increasing collaboration and a sense of community, whilst at the same time creating intimate spaces for quite contemplation.
The new office plan draws inspiration from the black bands on a universal barcode. Different functional spaces are organized in a set of horizontal bands arranged across the office. This design deviates from the traditional corporate office by emphasizing openness yet allowing for confidentiality where needed.
