Dtac is one of the leading telecommunications companies in Thailand, and in June 2009 it consolidated its teams from various sites. The new location was dtac House in Bangkok’s Chamchuri Square, sprawling over 62,000 sqm and 20 floors. At the time this was the largest office lease in Thailand’s history, accommodating over 3,500 employees.
Dtac House reflects the aspiration to become a more desirable employer, attracting the best and brightest the country has to offer by stressing the importance of employee satisfaction. Such a philosophy is reflected in the company’s corporate motto “feel good wherever you are”.
The Australian company Hassel was awarded the job of designing the offices; it was felt that their approach was most aligned with the company’s vision. Hassel used copious amounts of natural wood, and utilised natural light to the fullest extent possible. This interplay between natural light and wood really creates an airy and refreshing work environment, stimulating creativity and efficiency. Some of the main features of dtac House include a circular library amphitheatre, an entire ‘funfloor’ which includes a running track, indoor soccer, table tennis and a performance space.
