Dolby Laboratories is an American company specialising in audio noise reduction and audio encoding/compression.
Dolby licenses its technologies to consumer electronics manufacturers. Over the years, Dolby Laboratories has grown from its roots in sound engineering into an international, publicly traded company with a variety of products and services. The company’s staff has also changed over the years, going from traditional sound engineers to tech-savvy designers, programmers, and creative employees. The new office space  presents an opportunity to reflect this cultural evolution. The plan configuration places open workstations at the perimeter to provide daylight for all of the staff and to save energy.

As a result of a comprehensive visioning and sustainability charrette, the project team and user groups defined the need for a design direction that reflects the company’s modern values of technical innovation and collaboration within the context of the fiscal, environmental, and social responsibility.
