In 2009 BAM designed and built the new corporate headquarters of the Co-operative group in Manchester. The building was designed to be highly eco-friendly and sustainable. The building even achieved a BREEAM Outstanding rating, the highest score ever attained.
The building is 325,000 square foot and spreads across 16 floors, it features a large central atrium and the majority of office space is open plan.
The internal layout allows flexible use of the space and state-of-the-art technology. An integrated energy system promotes renewable energy. CHP units can run on pure plant oil harvested and refined from Co-operative farms. A sustainable drainage system stores and recycles water as needed.
