Airbnb is a website for people to rent out lodging, including private rooms, entire apartments, castles etc. It has over 500,000 listings in 33,000 cities and 192 countries. The company was founded in August 2008 and is headquartered in San Francisco. Their Dublin office was designed by Heneghan Peng, and the aim was to create a space that reflects everything the company has to offer. While they tied in culture from various locations, they also reference Dublin with the reception area mimicking an Irish pub complete with a horseshoe bar.
To get started, the architects took a look at some of the most interesting properties from around the world to reference in the individual pods they used as meeting rooms.
