If you’re looking to increase your workforce, it almost goes without saying that you’ll want to ensure you get the best possible candidates for the job. While you’ll be looking for the individuals with the best qualifications who can help your company go forward, you also need to consider the fact that your business also needs to be an attractive proposition for them. There needs to be things in place like progression options, bonuses and other perks, but one big factor is one you might not have thought about – namely your workplace.
First impressions really count and if you have a tired old office, chances are it might put people off when they turn up for an interview. So if you’re wondering what makes for an appealing workplace, here are five things bound to turn the heads of your prospective new staff.
1 Quality Decor
The decoration you have in your buildings is important for first impressions. Little touches like a fresh coat of paint or having some prints or images dotted around looks far better than bare beige walls.
2 Catering
Food matters, it’s as simple as that. If you don’t have any place for your staff to eat or get something to eat, it can put people off instantly.
3 Unique Facilities
Along with catering facilities, installing a unique feature like a games room, an office garden or simply somewhere your staff can relax and take a break, can be a big draw.
4 The Latest Equipment
In a similar vein to the décor, if the systems are old and tired it can reflect badly. Carry out an audit on your old computers and machines and if possible replace some of them with newer versions that look more professional.
5 Motivated Teams
Lastly, if your staff are looking miserable or seem to be lacking enthusiasm it again won’t leave people thinking your business is an enjoyable place to be. Having features like the above in place can go a long way to changing this though and get your teams driven and motivated.
So, if you feel your workplace is perhaps lacking in a few of the above then there’s no time like the present to get your offices and buildings refurbished. When you do you might notice the calibre of your applicants improves along with your business premises.
What sets your workplace apart from the rest and equally what don’t you like about it? If you think we’ve missed something important from our top five, be sure to let us know in the comments below.
