London Design Festival is the week pinned in the calendar of every design devotee, curious to see the newest and most exciting from the word of design, from our built environment to the every day use items we rely on. The epic proportions of this year’s event are spread over dozen of strategic locations, with hundreds of exhibitors, 400 events, impressive installations, celebrating the full spectrum of design and creative genius. Taking over the capital from 19-27th September, London Design Festival is an unmissable addition to London’s dynamic cultural life and contribution.

100% Design
The renown interior, design and architectural fair gives the spotlight to both new and established furniture, accessories and appliance designers, showcasing the best of their work and creativity. This year’s theme of the show is “Design in Colour” presenting the public with the big colour trends and schemes for next year, offering plenty of inspiration and food for thought. With more than 400 exhibitions, 100% Design’s twenty-first year of existence preserves its trademark for innovation and high –quality design and is definitely a must see part of the London Design Festival.
A Bullet From A Shooting Star
The massive steel sculpture of inverted electricity pylon is the creation of talented British sculptor Alex Chinneck, commissioned by London Design Festival. The 15 tons installation is visible from North Greenwich Station, Canary Wharf and even from the planes landing and taking off from City airport. Created in collaboration with Greenwich Peninsula, the statue is meant to reference the industrial history of the site as well as provide an eye-catching structure marking the start of London’s prime cultural week. At night, the installation is illuminated creating a lattice of beautiful shadows onto the grounds below. You have a chance to see this creative structure until 10th January 2016.
Heartbeat by Charles Petillon
If you pass by the famous Victorian Market in Covent Garden this week you will be amazed to see the 100,000 big white balloons, gently illuminated with pulsing white light. The impressive art installation named Heartbeat is the first public exhibit of the French artist Charles Petillon, who has taken over the whole South Hall of the famous Grade II-listed market. The venue for the installation is strategically chosen due to its historical and architectural importance, making the merge of classic structures with contemporary art even more impactful.
RIBA Regent Street Window Project
The Royal Institute of British Architects impressed Londoners with the creative transformation of the windows of fifteen of Regent Street’s top retailers. The striking installations will display supreme creativity and unconventional thinking, transforming the shopping street into an art display of unique creations. Difficult to miss!
Designjunction at Central St Martin and Victoria House
More than 180 exhibitors, over 50 design-led pop-up shops, seminars, workshops along with culinary treats will be located in Victoria House – just across the road from The College, formerly known as Central Saint Martin. The renowned design institution will host trade-focused design brands, offering an abundance of inspiration, trendy clothing and accessories, and one off pieces for the dedicated fashionistas.
