Facebook has outgrown two corporate HQs already, and as such they have recently moved into a new office space. The campus is located at the old Sun Microsystems compound in Menlo Park. Facebook renovated the space giving it a new lease of life, and the results are spectacular.
Expression and freedom of thought were key design principles, this can be seen throughout the office where employees are encouraged to create their own art. Various areas have been created to allow employees to flex their artistic muscle. What’s more Facebook has an artist in residency program that gives an outlet for new artists to contribute pieces to the design of the office space.
Gensler was chosen to complete the conversion and opted to have their younger designers work on the project in an effort to bring a fresh approach to the young company’s campus. Ringing in at nearly 1 million-square-feet and filled with mostly private offices, this would prove to be no small task.
