The evolution of computing has taken us from PC to Laptop to Smartphone within a short period of time. Of course, most of us still use each type of computer in our daily lives, but with the breakneck speed at which technology develops we’ve been able to get our devices smaller, cheaper and faster all within a short period of time. Within the space of around 20 years we’ve made massive leaps in consumer technology.
This begs the question, what will the future of computing have in store? One futuristic vision is that of the elimination of regular screens and keyboards, with projected screens and virtual keyboards replacing them. This would allow the ultimate in computer mobility, with computers essentially taking form in a futuristic pen like device. With the screens and keyboards being projected on any wall or flat surface the devices could get rid of some of the most bulky components of modern computing. When this technology will come to fruition is unclear, but I for one am excited by the very concept alone!
