Westminster Council has recently approved plans for a new 41-storey skyscraper in Paddington, which will bring new office space London. It is being spearheaded by the Ruben brothers, and will be officially called the Paddington Basin Tower. Yet, because of its shape the building is already being dubbed the cucumber!
The project will consist of the main tower, set to be the tallest in the UK at 460ft, and three other smaller buildings surrounding it. The buildings will be mixed use, including a hotel, a sky bar on the top, residential units and of course office space. The building seems set to be the hottest new office space in London, and will probably reinvigorate the Paddington area.
Describing the scheme Partington, the architectural team behind the tower, said: ‘The tower will become the focus for Paddington and gateway to the centre of London, one of the last pieces in the puzzle that will unify the whole, marking the amazing transformation and regeneration of this part of London, into what is already a popular place for people to live and work, supported by great public realm.’
