London: An Ideal Meeting Point For Tech Lovers
There seems to be a packed calendar of exciting Tech events in London this Autumn, and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it! This week alone, we had the opportunity to go around London and attend three insightful events: SIGNAL Conference, Women in Tech – WOW Talks, and SmartSummit.
Our first stop, on Tuesday, September 20th, was The SIGNAL Conference which took place in an 18th Century brewery (The Brewery). We had the pleasure to meet remarkable professionals including Jeff Lawson, Founder and CEO at Twilio, Ryan Leslie, Co-Founder and CEO at Disruptive Multimedia, and Julia Ferraioli, Software Engineer at Google,
The SIGNAL Conference was initially launched in San Francisco and this year’s event in London aimed gather developers from around the world putting together a comprehensive programme with hand-picked speakers who shared their knowledge and filled us with inspiration and ideas on how to explore the next generation of communication tools.
We then headed towards our second stop: Women in Tech – WOW Talks at the Royal Geographical Society, overlooking Hyde Park. We attended remarkable talks and WOW (Words of Wisdom) from female leaders and innovators in the tech industry as well as the latest live demos including virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and wearable tech. We learned how technology connects different industries and why inspiration is key to pursuing a career in tech.
Our third and final stop this week was Smart Summit London. This 2-day event took place on September 21st and 22nd at the Olympia Conference Centre, giving us an insight into new technologies and today’s digital society.
The Internet of Things (IoT) and the rise of digital technologies is influencing our everyday life and transforming almost every aspect of modern existence. We were able to reflect and discuss how the physical and virtual areas of our lives are increasingly becoming intertwined and how more and more of our interactions are mediated by machines.
