The evening event with our partner Start-Up Chile @eOffice Soho brought together curious startups and entrepreneurs willing to find the answer of the question:
Could you use US$ 33k, equity-free, for your start-up and develop your idea in Chile, amongst the biggest and most diverse startup community in the world?
And after the insightful presentation by Santiago Lecaros, unveiling inspiring images and facts about Chile and the programme itself, the audience was already embarking on a mental journey of success and exploration to South America.
Start-Up Chile is a revolutionary programme of the Chilean government that seeks to attract early-phase, high-potential entrepreneurs to bootstrap their start-ups using Chile as a platform from which to go global.
Luring startups and entrepreneurs from around the world, the programme offers one-year residency/ work visa, mentoring from established business leaders, open-plan workspace facilities, for people to work from and interact, and most importantly US$ 33k per company, completely equity free.
Launched in 2010, Start-Up Chile was established in order to reduce the country’s dependency on commodities and infuse innovation and fresh ideas by attracting the emerging tech minds of the world. In return for the funding, the entrepreneurs have to simply share their experience and skills with the local community, steadily influencing and changing the mind set of Chileans, instilling the entrepreneurial spirit in the nation. This has paved the way for Chile in becoming Latin America’s innovation and technology hub, creating much needed economical diversity in this resource-rich nation.
Start-Up Chile has supported 13 generations of projects do far, which accounts for +2,700 entrepreneurs coming from +75 different countries.
The programme, unique in the world, is the ideal opportunity for bootstrappers to receive funding without ceding equity while utilizing one of the strongest Latin American economies as their launch/development platform.
The next application process is between Sep 1st –Sep 29th, results will be published in December 2015 and if successful you will be starting your Chilean business and professional adventure in Feb 2016
